Awards can be entertaining and stimulating but personally I pay minimal attention to them and attribute even less credit to them, however it’s a great catalyst to remind myself to step back, take a deep breath and remember why it is we, in the video industry, do what we do.
My prime point of reflection during this paparazzi parabola is to remember that it is not for glammy awards or a pat on the back that we spend hours and hours perfecting a two-second shot. It is not to be handed a gold plated figurine or a write up in the local paper that we risk everything. We do it for the client, for the consumer, for our families. We do it for the guy watching TV at two in the morning, we do it for the passion. We do it for ourselves. We, most certainly, do not do it for the awards.
