Hurricane Harvey and Irma: Helpful Charity Organizations

by Robin

Within the past two weeks, two devastating hurricanes swept through our neck of the woods. Although we were lucky enough to escape the effects of Harvey and Irma, thousands of people are now displaced, remaining in shelters or in desperate need of help.

These brutal storms don’t end when the rain stops. Thousands of people will continue rebuilding their lives and homes for years and years to come. To contribute to those who lost everything during these destructive storms locally, please consider some of our suggested options:

United Way of Northeast LA

100% of the individual donations given to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund will be distributed to local United Ways in the affected areas.

Disabled American Veterans

DAV’s disaster relief team is on the ground in Texas, Florida and surrounding areas that have been impacted. DAV provides relief supply kits and financial assistance to veterans and their families so they can obtain food, warm clothes and shelter in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Habitat for Humanity

Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and the associated rainfall have caused unprecedented severe flooding, forcing emergency evacuations and damaging thousands of homes and communities. Donations will be used to respond to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma until Habitat for Humanity’s role in meeting the need is met.

Paula Burgess

Paula Burgess

Being Queen Bee has its challenges. The key is to keep the hive alive and fun. Over 30 years of blood, sweat and tears have been spent nurturing an outstanding group of very active and creative worker bees who have developed a special blend that sets us apart. She wouldn't change a thing, other than having our busy bee hive moved to Hawaii. Nothing wrong with dreaming, a belief summed up by our motto - Everyone dreams dreams, few live them. Welcome to ours.

Graham Morris

Graham Morris

Graham and Paula have been together for a long time. They both actually worked for same company while La Tech students, graduated in same quarter, and both worked at same office in their first full-time jobs in their advertising careers before starting our little agency in 1986. He is a model car collector, proud father, and a master planner of client campaigns.

Sharon Armstrong

Sharon Armstrong

Sharon worked for 33 years as a Social Service Analyst for the State and retired in 2007 but did that prepare her for the hustle and bustle of advertising? She started her NMY residency as Media Assistant and later moved to Accounting. When she's not wrangling us she spends her time wrangling her family, crocheting, and working in the yard.

Megan Williams

Megan Williams

Just another artist in need of a paycheck. After six years of molding and messing about at Louisiana Tech University she found a home among the pixels at NMY. Things are different there. They need a special kind of thinker. When not making your website awesome, she's wrangling two children and creating other beautiful things.

What about life after work? Well, she loves spending time with her husband, son, and dog. Other loves include: running, BBQ, and fishing.

Adam Greene

Adam Greene

A coffee bean roasting soccer player? Yep. A crawfish boiling mass communicator? You know it. Studio jack-of-all-trades? Sure, and that's just the beginning. Business development and leading our video production department is Adam's real stock-in-trade. A ULM graduate, he married his high school sweetheart, bought a house, and joined the NMY team. A glutton for punishment, you say? Maybe. He's got two offspring – both girls.

Jordan Greene

Jordan Greene

A Jedi Master of the camera. A Grand Overlord of editing footage. A Majestic Wonder of... awkward moments? That's why we keep him locked away in an edit bay, producing some of the best videos a human mind - the jury is still out on the "human" part - can devise. Sometimes we even let the magical beast out of his habitat to shoot our amazing footage. But we never let him stray too far.
