Holiday Smiles

We pulled out all of our most festive and tacky Christmas attire for this fabulous photograph. With nothing else to do but laugh at ourselves and with each other, we came together and went over the top to catch a moment bursting at the seams with holiday cheer. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing…we’ll let you decide. Either way, we hope you enjoy our quirky interpretation of the Holidays and hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas season.

Our Friend Adam Ballard

Our friends at Fitness Together have always been an integral part of Newcomer, Morris, and Young. So when we heard that one of their own had a need, we did what we could to fill it. Adam is a thorough, thoughtful, and determined individual who is constantly challenging himself in interesting, character building ways. This time there was a little mud involved. It’s called The World’s Toughest Mudder, a 24 hour race across a 13 mile course laden with military obstacles and lots of mud. Adam qualified for World’s Toughest Mudder because of his successful determination to have his entire team complete the Tough Mudder course. All we did was make a poster asking for donations to help send Adam to the course in Englishtown, NJ. What he did was promise that any extra donated beyond his expense cost would go to the Wounded Warrior Project to help wounded soldiers coming back from war.

We love having our hands in the kind of things that help people and the kind of things that help people help other people.

Reaching across the globe

BANCS Microfinance is a Christian-based microfinance company in Uganda Africa.

Microfinance is small business loans for those in need. Small, as in, around 150 to 200 dollars. For most of the population in Uganda who live on less than $2 a day, that is all they need to begin working their way out of poverty.

Along with providing loans, BANCS offers classes to educate people on how to manage their finances and their small businesses. In these classes people also learn the importance of living debt free and becoming self sufficient. This resonates so well that most people pay off their debt to BANCS in a fraction of the allowed time.

It is amazing what BANCS is doing in Uganda. Mike Croslow, the founder of BANCS was a missionary in Africa before he began exploring the microfinance business. He has a heart for the people and wants to see them succeed on their own instead of create dependency.

We want to express our excitement for BANCS Microfinance because we have been given the opportunity to create a website for them. Mike has a vision for BANCS to be self sustainable, like the people he works with, but until then they are still dependent on donations from those who are able to give. This is an absolutely remarkable organization and we want to get people ready for the website when it is finished.

It is coming soon. So be looking for it’s launch!

Matt’s Music Wants to Give You Things!

And as it turns out we’re helping them do it. We have teamed up with Matt’s Music to create and promote a stellar give away, including a 20th Anniversary logo, TV commercials, radio spots, print graphics for entry boxes, and so much more. By designing and building a landing page for the contest we were able to give Matt’s the ability to capture and manage the names, phone numbers, and emails of the people who entered the contest. This gives their customers easy access to an entry form and the thorough marketing we provided made sure they knew about it.

Check out the work we did for them! And while your at it, be sure and register. Surly somebody you know needs a Taylor guitar!

Doing Our Part

November 7th, 2011
by nmy

This is the 21st century. But we all know that paper is not yet a thing of the past. Someday it will be, in that, we have no doubt. But until that day we will be doing our part and taking responsibility for our planet by recycling as much paper, plastic, and cans as possible. At Newcomer, Morris, and Young we believe that if we are not able to make a significant dent in the solution, then we can at least not be contributors to the problem. And we encourage everybody to view their actions in the same way.

Trust Premier

After contacting the Premier Products team about their near complete website back in September and being told a few more updates and changes were in order, we set up a meeting with Joey Meggs and Brandy Roton. Joey and Brandy have been absolutely wonderful people to work with. They are the poster children for what we want in clients. They were meticulous and detailed and always came with content in hand and a very (very) clear idea of what they wanted out of their site. We are overjoyed to finally be launching the site but we will miss our Premier Products website meetings!

Thank you both for being who you are and reminding us why we do what we do. Check out the Site!

Graham’s Birthday – A reason to celebrate

November 2nd, 2011
by nmy

Graham Morris and Paula Newcomer started their ad agency many years ago in a small house in Monroe and were later joined in perfect harmony with Jimmy Young. A few upgrades and one state of the art studio later, Graham, Paula, and Jimmy are still going at it. Graham has been holding down the fort from the beginning, often getting to work before the rest of the crew and staying well past quitting time to make sure all our clients are well taken care of. He is far from a partner sitting on the side lines reaping the benefits from other’s hard work and creativity. He is truly one of the most hard working people ever to grace the doors of Newcomer, Morris, and Young and his birthday, on Halloween day, is a reason for us all to stop and appreciate the person he is. Happy Birthday, Graham.

Yes…We will all miss the Gnome

But in it’s place, sits comfortably the new and clean. After the addition of our new web designer, the pieces seemed to fall together up there in the 2nd floor corner of our building and we thought it was high time to give the world a fresh glimpse into our small slice of the Monroe design world. It’s a little different, a little funky, and a little us. It is simple and to the point. We hope you have found your way around easily with few extra bells and whistles to distract you from the point. The point being, the work we are proud to show and the work that shows just what we can do for you.

NMY Update – June 23, 2011

June 23rd, 2011
by nmy

Ok. So, we haven’t posted in awhile.  We’ve been busy!  But we promise to try to do better.  Regular updates are planned so you and yours can stay tuned in to all the goings on at NMY.  Speaking of goings on, lets get into it.

Web

New Web Coordinator Jason Cheek

That’s right.  NMY is proud to welcome Jason on board.  He’s a bright, young northeast Louisiana native that is sure to make our team even stronger.  We’ve been extremely pleased with his work so far and we’re excited to see what he does in the future.  So for all your web related needs, call us at NMY.  Jason will get you set up!

(Side Note:  We now have two Jason’s on staff – Jason Cheek / web & Jason Grisham / print.  So when you call and ask for ‘Jason’, don’t be surprised if you get a response of “Jason who?”)

Riding a Wave of Success

Jimmy Young, a partner here at, Newcomer, Morris & Young, has recently returned home to Monroe from sunny Hawaii. If you’re thinking Mai Tais, luaus and luxury hotels, think again. Mr. Young was on the famous North Shore of the Big Island where ocean currents collide with the shelf and towering waves up to 30 feet in height are born. No, it wasn’t a well-deserved vacation.  NMY recently picked up a new international client: Coop, a division of SwimWays.

NMY was tasked with directing and editing a huge video production that spans the realm of two sports in which the SwimWays Corporation sponsors athletes: the North American Sand Soccer Association, for which Coop manufactures the official ball of the sport, and the International Surfing Association.

“The idea for this project was to marry these two sports together. It’s going to be really cool when you see the commercial on TV… surfers playing soccer in the ocean, it’s just incredible. We were working with world champion surfers and they were awesome.”   – Jimmy Young

There will be an extended version released on YouTube and a 30-second version to air on television nationally.

What got us even more excited than working on an awesome video like this was how we landed the project – reputation.  Jimmy worked with one of the art directors for SwimWays in 2000, and when he was asked ‘Who can pull of a production of this scope?’ he immediately replied, ‘I want my guys from Louisiana to do this.”  Now that makes an agency feel good!
